The concept of a "farm stay" is relatively new in the United States, although it is well known throughout much of Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Essentially a farm stay provides travelers with the opportunity to immerse themselves in the day to day operations, sights and sounds of a farm.

The business began when my grandfather, “Pappy” built the original cottages over 80 years ago for friends from Eastport to summer in. Originally Pappy was a professional photographer in Eastport, but later maintained a farm at the lake with over 500 apples trees, fifteen hives of bees and a greenhouse, In the over 500 glass plate negatives that have survived there are many images of life on the homestead in the 1920s.
The five cottages, located along a half-mile stretch of shorefront can’t be seen one from the other, affording seclusion and privacy. Boyden Lake is five miles long and two miles wide and is spring fed. The sunsets across the lake are spectacular, especially when you’re out in a canoe, and the lake surface is a sheet of gold and magenta. Each cottage has its own private dock.
